For use in straight holes
Self orienting - good for automation
Installed ultrasonically or with heat
Class 2B per ANSI/ASME B1.1
Ultrasonic - Insert is placed in boss of plastic and an ultrasonic horn in positioned on top of the insert. Vibrations from the horn generate heat at the interface of the insert and the plastic causing the plastic to flow into the surface profile of the insert. The method is designed for use with thermoplastics and NOT for thermoset plastics. This method is good for medium and high volume production runs.
Heat Staking - Insert is heated prior to installation into the plastic boss or during the installation process by a heat insert staking machine. This installation method is suitable for larger sized inserts and provides excellent flow of plastic into the surface profile. This installation method is designed for use with thermoplastics and NOT for thermoset plastics.
Applications for Threaded Inserts for Plastic vary from communication equipment, the automotive industry, computer industry, and anywhere where strong durable threads are required in plastics.
